Blogging While Working Full Time

Blogging seems so glamorous. The shoots, the clothes, the travel, the food… all of it adds up to this unrealistic lifestyle that seems, well, unrealistic. In case you missed my last article on the subject, I’ll give you a behind the scenes tip: it is unrealistic. The truth? Blogging is a LOT of work. I know you’ve seen other bloggers talk about everything that goes into it. If you’re doing this alone (even with help every so often from supportive family and friends), You’re Artistic & Creative Director, Model, Photographer, Writer, Editor, Photo Editor, Copywriter, Marketing Manager, Social Media Director… and the list goes on and on and on. The amount of work that needs to be done and the time that needs to be put in to be a Content Creator and actually make the outcome worthwhile… it’s a never ending, 24/7 kind of deal.

Now, imagine taking all of that and putting a 9-5 office job on top of it. And that’s where I sit, right between those two all-the-time jobs – juggling it all while trying to maintain newlywed status and my insane dog (who might as well be a human baby, let’s be real). And a social life? Forget it. Every once in a while, I’ll make it out to drinks or a day date with friends that I’m sure are sick of my declined invites.

And maybe that’s unhealthy… but the crazy part? I actually love it. I’m a workaholic that can’t be cured. I LOVE being busy all the time – even if I complain about it every so often when it feels like it’s piling up a little too much. But we all need to vent, right? The truth is, it takes someone insane like me to keep all of these things up in the air. I work my office job to pay the bills, but I have my blog as a creative outlet and for that little extra financial padding I need to buy clothes and to enjoy eating out – and in turn, create that content you see of my unrealistic lifestyle. I do what I have to do to keep my life afloat, while working on what I love to support everything else. One day, hopefully, what I love will turn into what keeps my life afloat. That’s the goal, at least. Until then, I’ll be the crazy workaholic that’s either in the office or at my desk at home, finding time in between to be a normal human and binge watch the occasional show. I mean, come on – everyone needs their Netflix time. Am I right?
