Clawfoot Tubs

If you’ve caught on to my generalized interior aesthetic, you’ll know that I love the mix of old-world and modern. There’s something about an antique or vintage piece that adds cozy warmth to various spaces in a home. Whether it’s the imagined history behind the old or the long-forgotten craftsmanship of days past, nothing can compare to that lived-in feel.   One such accent that blends beautifully with modern appeal is a clawfoot tub. As with most interior pieces, clawfoot tubs have ridiculous amounts of variation potential and styling options. There’s countless possibilities for color and finish alone – you can leave the tub one solid color, add contrast by leaving the rim white and painting the bottom, make the legs a different color than the rest of the piece, or play with mixing matte and glossy finishes. You also have plenty of options for the space surrounding a clawfoot tub. I love the look of subway tile in a bathroom with this style tub since that look is very reminiscent of the early 1900s. If you go that route, however, make sure to add some contrasting accents like a metal stool or an industrial chandelier to help break up the antiqued look. Pairing marble with a clawfoot tub is also a no brainer and a classic way to add a luxury touch to the style. In my opinion, there’s not many ways to go wrong with a piece like this. As long as you make it the centerpiece and star of the bathroom, a clawfoot tub will always look incredible. Scroll below for some design inspiration I rounded up featuring this timeless style.
