When some people think “girls night out,” their mind jumps to bodycon cut-out club dresses… and then there are people like me. My perfect idea of a girl’s night out is heading to the local wine bar or hitting up the new farm-to-table restaurant down the street. I’m all about that low-key catch up with a couple of friends. If you’re in my camp, then this outfit will be perfect for your next girls night.

This Topshop dress combines two of my favorite styles: shift and off the shoulder. It’s one part 60s mod, one part 70s bohemian. This style can be worn all day and easily transition into cocktail hour and beyond. The ruffled sleeves add a sweet touch, but don’t let that fool you – there’s nothing sexier than open shoulders.

Since club hopping still isn’t on the agenda, flats were an obvious choice. These classic leather Topshop loafers are classy enough for the vineyard yet pared down enough for the bar. Bonus: they’re super comfortable. As for the rest of my accessories, I kept it monochrome. While a bandana is usually pretty casual, pairing navy with the cobalt blue dress is nothing but chic. Usually I would be afraid of this tonal combo, but I stepped out of my comfort zone and ended up loving it.

On that note, the next time you have a girls night planned, try and stray from your norm of jeans and a tee for the bar or a bodycon for the club. Taking a more thoughtful approach to your playtime attire goes a long way. Getting primped and preened is half the fun, isn’t it?!
