Wearing: SHABBY APPLE dress | MERGED the essential tie
STEVE MADDEN booties | RETROSUPERFUTURE sunglasses

The weather forecast has been seriously upsetting me lately. I mean honestly, though – it’s basically October. I don’t think I’m alone in saying that fall couldn’t come sooner to the LA area. My Pinterest is filled to the brim with camel coats and skinny scarves and thigh-high boots. All I can do is Pin the photos to my Inspiration board and wait for the appropriate weather to reinvent the looks.

In the meantime, I’m determined to add a little autumn to my outfits. When transitioning into fall, there are a few minor changes that can be made to your wardrobe: add more mid-weight fabrics like suede and leather, keep to a darker color palette, and opt for a bootie.

This Shabby Apple dress and what I paired with it was a perfect mix to showcase these rules. The innate heaviness of the denim maxi dress gives the illusion of a cold-weather mood while keeping a breezy easiness. The suede of The Essential Tie (used as a belt here) and the ankle boots add another dimension of fall style. When the weather is truly cold enough, I would wear this look with an oversized cardigan or a brown leather jacket. But the dress on it’s own is perfect until then.
