Whenever I’m deciding what to decorate my apartment with, I always have such a clear view of what the piece should be. Sometimes, that vision happens to be something that I can never find. When it came to apothecary jars for my bathroom vanity, this was the case. So, I decided to make some! I picked out these small ball jars, and then went to choose paint colors. I was originally planning on simply using acrylic paint, but when I was at the store the chalkboard paint caught my eye. I immediately loved the idea of being able to customize the jars with labels, so I picked out the four colors I loved the most for our décor. To start the painting process, I used a ruler to measure out points around the corners to tape off where I wanted the paint. This took a while, but I was focused on making the lines as straight as possible. Then, I painted one coat, let that dry for over an hour, and brushed on a second coat. I let the paint set for 24 hours per the instructions, then slowly took the tape off. Have a knife or razor blade handy for this step in case some of the paint peels slightly; it’s easy to cut a line right on the paint to avoid this. Condition the paint by rubbing it all over with loose chalk, and voilà! My jars were ready to be labeled and filled. I had so much fun doing this project and I absolutely love the outcome. I can’t wait to find another DIY project to tackle!
