CHANEL PERFECTION LUMIÈRE VELVET IN ’30 BEIGE’

Foundation has always been a very tricky thing for me. The balance between coverage and weight, matching the perfect color… it’s something that takes time. I’m always a believer in sampling a few before finding one that fits – a chore in itself, yet something that is always worth it. For a while, I was only using tinted moisturizer on my face. Over time, I found myself wanting something with less of a dewy finish. While I still use my Nars moisturizer on beach days or at the pool, my new go-to from day to day is the Chanel Perfection Lumière Velvet Smooth Effect Makeup.

While I began by trying the Chanel Vitalumière Aqua, I quickly realized that it was a little too shiny on my oily-type skin (but I definitely recommend you try it first as well if you have dry skin). This lead me to the Lumière Velvet, and I haven’t looked back. It goes on with a moist consistency and blends into a matte, literally velvet finish. The coverage is buildable, so I use as much as I need depending on my schedule. It stays in place whether it’s a little for an eight-hour work shifts or a lot for multi-outfit shoots. The best part? Even with a couple layers, it feels ridiculously lightweight on the skin. AND it has SPF like the tinted moisturizer I was using. All things considered, it has checked each box on my list of demands for a foundation.
