When it comes to showcasing fashion, nothing can beat the whimsical romance and one of a kind looks of Couture week. While flipping through the collections of all of the designers who showed in Paris a couple weeks back, there were a few that stood out as my favorites. Here, I’ll highlight my favorite looks from each of those collections.
GIAMBATTISTA VALLI
The fifties glamour of Valli’s collection was palpable, and I was loving it. Swing dresses and pant suits alike were embellished with appliques and furs, giving them a luxe quality that resonated from look to look. Not to mention, I’m seriously considering searching for the perfect headscarf.
VALENTINO
Valentino is just not capable of disappointment. Every collection is wrapped in this luxe-bohemian vibe thats Grecian Goddess and tailored all at once, and Couture Fall 14 was no exception. I’m such a huge fan of Valentino’s structured, timeless silhouettes paired with gorgeous prints and embellishments.
RALPH & RUSSO
Ralph & Russo took delicate lace detailing to the next level with this collection. Thier pieces were flawlessly tailored, which is pertinent in applique work such as this. I also loved how cohesive the show was as a whole – each look went perfectly with the one before it.
CHANEL
One word – obsessed. I can’t get over how much I’m loving the white and pastel trends for this upcoming fall, and Chanel nailed it on the head with this collection. This was another show that embraced appliques, but the gilded look of many of the pieces added such luxury to the collection as a whole. And can I just say how much I love the sandals Lagerfeld used? Just perfection.
ELIE SAAB
I will never tire of the whimsical, breezy looks that Saab sends down her runways. She personifies femininity to a T with full skirts, beading, and lace. With this collection, updates in silhouettes added something new to the brand, especially the caped look – to die for.
DIOR
Oh, Dior – Another collection that screams feminine appeal. Trench coats and A-Line dresses galore, and it wouldn’t be Dior without them. While this collection also focused on lighter colors for fall, the dark seaming and details packed a punch. And can I just point out the belled sleeves of the trench above – genius.
