Name something better than a one day escape from everyday life. I’ll wait, but I’m pretty sure it will take you a while. I really don’t think there is anything better than a drive-able getaway to clear the mind and start refreshed and ready to work the next day.
In Orange County, Glen Ivy Hot Springs is known as one of those easy escapes. And now that they’ve re-done and added so much to the retreat, it’s better than ever. I was invited to stay for a day to take in the whole experience, and it was everything my stressed-out self has needed and more. If you’re from the Southern California area or are planning a visit here anytime soon, make sure to fit Glen Ivy into your schedule.
My necessary stops for a day at Glen Ivy:
Goco Cafe. After an easy check in, start your day with a quick bite and a latte or iced coffee. It’s all Starbucks drinks, so they’ll have your five-part order.
Bath House. This is where you can change into your bathing suit and store your things for the day. It’s fully stocked with any supplies or toiletries you’ll need throughout the day, and there’s a hot tub, steam room, and full shower facilities.
Mineral Baths. This was our first soak stop of the day, and the best thing to start with to prepare for our next two stops. This step relaxes your muscles and begins to detoxify your body.
Club Mud. Where the mineral bath is relaxing, Club Mud was relaxing and fun. It was so therapeutic covering myself in the mud and laying out to wait for it to dry. We then soaked in the mud bath for a bit and washed it off for full exfoliation.
The Grotto. Annnd back to full relaxation. The Grotto is an underground cave where you’re literally painted with a luxurious, all-over moisturizer. You then sit in that for a while, go on to wash it off, and then sit in this beautiful cave drinking hot tea and eating fresh apples. Yes, please.
Massage Villas. I was lucky enough to be treated to a massage while here, and it was one of the best ones I’ve ever had. It was even that much better after a fully relaxing morning, too. Michael also got a massage, and added on the CBD upgrade. He said it was MORE than worth it.
Ivy Kitchen. After massages, we grabbed lunch at the Ivy Kitchen. It’s counter service style, where you order from your preferred station and grab a seat outside. The food was SO good. Pro Tip: We went around 2 PM so we could skip the insane lunch rush.
Lounge 1860. This little bar was a regular stop throughout the day. Service was fast and the drinks were great and well-priced. Definitely necessary for a full day of relaxation.
Hot & Cold Cycle Pools. I won’t lie and say that this is for everyone, but Michael and I absolutely LOVED these pools. Recommended use says to sit in the warm side for 4-5 minutes, go over to the cold (and I mean cold) side for 45-60 seconds, then repeat 5 times. It felt like torture while it was happening, but seriously incredible after the fact. Benefits include a real immune system boost, flushing of toxins, and a reboot of your circulation.
Saline Pool. This was our last soak of the day. While it was crazy busy throughout the afternoon, we stopped by close to closing and were able to relax all alone to fully take in the amazing day we had. Saline soothes the nervous system, so this felt like a more than appropriate way to wrap up the day.
Sending a huge THANK YOU to Glen Ivy for this amazing day! I can’t wait to go back and treat myself to another day of self-care rituals.
