Wearing: FLOWER CHILDREN ONLY ears | H&M dress
If I had a dollar for every time I needed a costume for a last-minute Halloween party invite and went as a cat, I’d have, like, ten dollars. Being a cat is just one of those costumes – the one where you can wear something that’s already in your closet (what a concept) and still feel sexy as hell. When I received this Halloween themed Meow Crown from Flower Children Only, I knew I had to do a makeup look to compliment them. My MUA friend Sam and I collaborated and came up with this look to do just that. Because being a cat doesn’t have to be a last minute decision (Unless it’s the last minute). Either way, this tutorial we put together will help with all your feline festivities for Halloween night.
Let’s get it started!
Products used: URBAN DECAY Naked Palette | MORPHE 35S Smokey Palette
MAC Paint Pot in ‘Soft Ochre’ & Fluidline in ‘Blacktrack’ | STILA Smudge Stick Waterproof Liner in ‘Stingray’ | BEN NYE Neutral Set Face Powder
ARDELL Demi Wispies & Lash Accent | DUO Lash Glue
Put on your base makeup, blush, and bronzer as usual. Then, loosely apply translucent powder underneath each eye to prevent fallout from eyeshadow.
Add a base all over the lid to prolong the wear of your eye makeup as well as help intensify the color. Apply a white eyeshadow underneath the eyebrow. This will act as your highlight. Then, apply a transition color in the crease of your eyelid (any light beige color will do).
Next, use a deep brown shadow to start building up smoke-y-ness on the outer corner of the eye. Pull the color upward and out until a cat eye shape begins to appear. Blend, Blend, Blend! Make sure to only pull the color halfway into the lid. When you feel like you’ve (literally) blended your life away, you can begin to apply a black color to the outer corner over the deep brown. Make sure to be light-handed as you will be dealing with a lot of intense pigment. Blend, Blend, Blend! (Seriously cannot emphasize that enough.)
Now, you can apply your coppery-red color onto the eyelid with a flat shadow brush. Start by patting the color on from the inner corner of the eye and take it into the center of the lid.
Take a detailing brush and line the bottom of the lash line with the same color.
Next, it’s time for lashes. Apply the first set of lashes and give them a second to dry.
Then, to add that extra cat-eye drama, add half lashes on top of the other set on the outer corner of each eye.
Next, use your blackest gel eyeliner to line on top of the lashes and fill in any gaps.
After lining the entire lid as usual, draw a straight line out and up as far as you want the wing to go. Make a second line coming back down, forming a triangle. Fill the triangle in until you’re satisfied with the shape.
Repeat this step for the inner line as well. Remember to trace out the lines first.
Then fill it in!
Line the water line with your favorite black liner.
Smoke out the liner you just added with your detailing brush and more black eye shadow. If you need more red under the lash line, now is the time to add it!
Next, curl your lashes (optional).
Apply (lots) of mascara to the top lashes to blend them together…
And add mascara to your bottom lashes as well.
For the last step, don’t forget to brush off the translucent powder and eyeshadow fallout from underneath your eye – And voilà!
You’re ready for a Halloween prowl.
As for the outfit, finding something to work for a cat costume is probably one of the easiest things to throw together. The cat ears are a must. Other than that, anything tight and black (or leopard print if you’re feeling it) will usually work.
I had so much fun doing this look. If any of you try it out, I’d love to see the finished look! Happy Halloween to you all – stay safe!!!

A big thanks to my friend Sam who did the makeup for this look.
She does hair too! She’s crazy talented.
