Let’s get real: I haven’t had fully natural hair color since I was about fifteen years old. I was always the girl that would get bored of her hair within a week and feel that inner drive to change it up. And that I did. From black to red to brown to a brassy orange when I didn’t know what toner was; my hair has seen it all. I won’t go as far to say that I ruined the concept of dying for myself, but I left my hair, and my motivation for change, damaged. Recent years have found me favoring ombré, a style that let me grow out my natural hair color while it still held interest. While I’ve had that look for a while now, I still get a baiting voice in my head that tells me to switch it up. So when my stylist apprehensively asked me last weekend if I’d be ok with purple for their hair show I was modeling in, I can’t say I wasn’t excited. I was obviously a little nervous since I’m not a fan of over-the-top anything. But the end result was dusty, lilac hair that I’m in love with. It’s such a breathe of fresh air to have a whimsical color, yet it’s subtle enough to still look polished for my every day. I highly recommend you guys step out of your comfort zone and try something new. I promise you’ll be surprised by what you can pull off.
