Wearing: TOPSHOP top, shorts, belt, sandals, hat, bandana, & toe rings
It’s finally time to start pulling your summer wardrobe to the front of the closet. Tanks and shorts are obviously included in that lot, but what about summer accessories? During the colder months, layering on scarves and hats seems like a no-brainer while warm-weather accoutrements are usually neglected. Where’s the sense in that? Accessorizing during the summer, or during any season for that matter, is always important. Believe me, your new knit tank and cut-off shorts will thank you. With a little help from Topshop‘s killer summer shop, here’s a few must-have accessories that will elevate that basic summer look to the next level.
- Patches on anything. This trend is the perfect way to add color and texture to denim. You can buy a piece with them already applied, like these shorts, or buy iron on patches to add to something you already own.
- A wide brim boater hat. Nothing says “summer” like a straw hat, and a wide brim boater style is a perfectly on-trend update to your hat collection. This one looks perfect with shorts, a sundress, or a bathing suit cover up.
- A basic bandana. I love bandanas because they’re seriously versatile. For this look, I wore it wrapped around the band of my hat for some extra color. You can also wear them tied around your neck, in your hair, or on your wrist or ankle as a play on a jewelry statement.
- A staple belt. Nothing pairs better with the 90s jean trend than a good belt. This one comes in a small enough size to fit around high-waisted jeans (a major bonus) and will go with literally any outfit.
- The perfect lace-up sandal. I love how different this textile pair is since I’m so used to seeing this style in leather. They’re sporty and casual, perfect for off-duty summer days.
- Layered toe rings. This mixed metal pack with star detail adds a little extra shine to casual sandals. They’re adjustable in size, so you can mix and match the stack or wear them all separate.
