In case you couldn’t tell from my other Wine of the Month features, I’m not usually one to gravitate towards a white wine. While I prefer a light red or a rosé, every once in a while, I’ll find a white that I really like. Case in point: Zaca Mesa’s Viognier.
I consider this a white that can be enjoyed all year round – not just during summer. It has a crisp, acidic finish that starts with a fruity taste heavy on apple and peach. What it doesn’t have is a heavy lean toward oak, something I try and stay away from when it comes to white wine.
Overall, this is a glass made for casual sipping, served slightly chilled and with a side of either chicken or fish. Orrr on its own. I don’t judge.
Cheers!
