Why You Need Blue Light Filtering Glasses

FELIX GRAY glasses

So, first of all, this is a new concept for me. I happened to stumble across an article about digital eye strain and was immediately interested. To summarize, this type of eye strain comes from staring at screens too much… AKA how I spend my entire life. LED screens like phones, computers, and TVs emit a high-energy blue light that can take a toll on your vision throughout the day. Specifically, digital eye strain can lead to headaches, blurry vision from tired eyes, dry eyes, and interruption of the sleep cycle – some things I’ve dealt with on and off for so long now.

Since my digital marketing career requires my eyes to be constantly looking at screens of all kinds, cutting back screen time wasn’t a reasonable solution to this problem. One day, just by chance, I happened to hear an ad for Felix Gray on one of my favorite podcasts. Not only does this company create high-quality glasses, each is fitted with blue light filtering lenses. You can also get them with or without magnification to cater to your prescription if you have one. You can find out more about their lens technology here.

I’ve been wearing their Nash pair in black for about a week now. Not only do I wear them during work hours, I’ve also thrown them on while late-night binging our latest show addiction (Atlanta, anyone?). The verdict? I’ve hands down noticed a difference in my day to day life. I’ve been avoiding my usual afternoon headache and my usual urge to throw my computer across the room come 3 PM. And, for real, that’s a win in my book.
