Wine of the Month: Zaca Mesa Z Gris

ZACA MESA Z GRIS

Sooo, I think I have a thing for rosé. Maybe even more than a thing. Winter, summer, rain, or shine – I’m always in for a light, crisp rosé. We received this Z Gris in a wine club order from Zaca Mesa last month, and it has become a fast favorite of mine.

It’s dry, not sweet, so it’s more than perfect for an easy-going afternoon. While most rosés I try are fruit heavy, this one leans slightly toward a tropical, almost melon tasting note. It’s obvious that they modeled this varietal after the traditional Provincial renderings, but a hint of Cinsault grape added to the Grenache is said to leave the flavor and color enhanced in this beautiful wine. Top it off with a crisp finish, and I’m hooked.

Cheers!
