ESSENTIAL phone & 360° camera
I’m going to let you guys in on a little secret: I’m a tech nerd. No matter what the latest and greatest hardware or software is, I have to try it out. The newest computer? The recently launched app? I’m interested in getting to know what it’s all about. So, when Essential reached out and offered to let me try out one of their new phones and the latest camera attachment, I jumped on it immediately. If someone does something better than the last great thing, I consider it the next great thing. You never know until you try it out, right? And – first thoughts – I’m so glad I did.
This phone is sleek, impeccably designed, and, most importantly, extremely functional. Android works seamlessly on the device – which makes sense, since the creator of this up-and-coming phone was the co-founder of the operating system. The quad HD display is edge to edge, and feels protected by a durable titanium construction (great for someone who drops their phone as often as I do). Another key design feature I love is the thumb print open, which is located on the back instead of the front. Little things like this show that the phone was created with the consumer and full function in mind.
The Halo Grey version they sent me (available now for a limited time) seems equally as amazing as the other colors available, but it also happens to be the Amazon Exclusive color that uniquely links to my Amazon Alexa. All of the usual Alexa functions are available through the phone, so I can control my devices, order from Amazon, and hear witty jokes all without being in ear shot of my Alexa at home.
Oh, and the camera? Without the attachment, it’s amazing. The regular function features Portrait Mode and 4k video recording, so images and videos are extremely clear. Add on the 360° attachment and it gets even better. It’s the smallest 4K 360° Camera available, and clips magnetically onto the phone with ease. Even with a descriptive name, I wasn’t positive what to expect – and it outdid my expectations. You can swipe around the photos to see a full all-around view of what was taken, and videos feel real. This is all enhanced by the phone’s included 128GB of storage to keep all of those photos and videos at hand.
As you can tell, I don’t have anything negative to say about my trial of the Essential phone. It’s such a nice break from everyone’s standard, and functions beautifully while staying beautiful. Now I just can’t wait to attend my next concert or event with the 360° camera to capture it all.
